Arrival to the airport in Puerto Montt, delivery of the car and trip to Pargua to cross the Chacao Channel to Chiloe island. If you are plenty of time, pay a visit to Caulin bird sanctuary, where you can taste chilean oysters, watch birds like black necked swans and flamingos among many others. Accomodation in hotel of choice.

We suggest you to go around the city and then go to Mar Brava and Ahui’s Fort. For lunch time, we recommend Puñihuil, where the Penguin Reserve is. There is a restaurant by the beach with a great view and nice food. In the afternoon, take the boat to the islets to watch the penguin communities of magellan and humboldt.

To go to Castro we recommend to take a detour in the Degañ branch road that goes to Quemchi, the birthplace of a well kown writer, Francisco Coloane. Then continue a bit south and visit the Aucar Island, you can get there by crossing a footbridge. The next stop could be in Tanaún, where you can have lunch at Mirella’s place, a friend of ours. In the afternoon, go and visit Tocoihue waterfall, and if you like to see a traditional shipyard, pass by San Juan. Arrival in Castro in the evening and accommodation in the hotel of your choice.

We suggest you to do a city tour in Castro and then, alter lunch, visit Dalcahue village. Cross to Quinchao Island and stop by Curaco de Velez, then continue to Achao to see its world heritage church.

For this day we recommend Chiloé National Park which road goes along the lakes Huillinco and Cucao. On the way back, go visit Chonchi and try the Licor de Oro, one of the traditional home made liquors.

Our suggestion is to leave early. Cross the Chacao channel and then take the Chilquihue branch road that goes to Anglemó’s cove, in Puerto Montt. Finally, return the car at the airport and take your flight.
