Chiloe with the family
(8 Days/ 7 Nights)
Each year many friends, relatives and people in general, want to spend a week on the island and they ask for our help to organize their stay. They want to come with the family, visit new places without having to drive all day, and stay at nice and clean accommodation. Well, here is our answer to that.
Among the attractions we have: San Antonio and Ahui Forts, beaches like Caulín and Mar Brava, Puñihuil Penguin Reserve; Wool, basket and wood handycraft. Traditional arquitecture, and the villages of Quemchi, Tenaún, Dalcachue, Achao and Chonchi.
ITINERARY
• Day 1 Puerto Montt – Chiloe Island – Kompatzki Farm.
• Day 2 Free morning in the farm and Ancud.
• Day 3 Lacuy peninsula – Penguin reserve.
• Day 4 The seaside roads.
• Day 5 A day in Castro
• Day 6 Quinchao Island.
• Day 7 Rilan Península or Chiloé National Park.
• Day 8 Castro- Puerto Montt Airport.

Day 1 Puerto Montt – Chiloe Island – Kompatzki Farm.
Delivery of the car at the airport or bus station to begin a trip to the mysterious Chiloé Island, where you will live some great experiences. After getting to Pargua and crossing the Chacao channel, we suggest you to visit the small village of Chacao to continue to our friend’s country house, the Kompatzki family. These great hosts will show you the chilote world.

Day 2 Free morning in the farm and Ancud.
During the morning just take a walk around the gardens, visit the dairy barn, ride a horse or a truck. In the afternoon, visit Caulín bird sanctuary and watch flamingos and black necked swans, among others. Then, if you can, go to Ancud, the last spanish redoubt. Ther visit the fort San Antonio, the powder magazine and the Blue Museum, a magical place that makes you feel like being in one of Coloane’s tales.

Day 3 Lacuy peninsula – Penguin reserve.
The Lacuy peninsula and the Penguin Reserve in Puñihuil are a great alternative for the day. We suggest to go to Ahui’s fort and Corona lighthouse, ( make sure to take the day newspaper for the light keeper) Quilo’s Bridge Museum and Mar Brava, on the Pacific side. For lunch, go to Bahía Puñihuil Restaurant. In the afternoon, take a short but fun ride on a boat to the islets, to watch the magellan and humbolt penguins.

Day 4 The seaside roads.
This day go to Punta Peuque in Rilan Peninsula, in front of Castro, there is a nice house for you there. Take your time, you have all day Use the branch roads to visit Quemchi, (Coloanes’s birthplace) Aucar Island and it’s footbridge, Tocoihue waterfall, and Tanaún cove, where there’s a chance to sail to Mechuque island.

Day 5 A day in Castro
Get up late, you are on holidays. Arrange a boat to cross to Castro by lunch time. While sailing, you will see huses, churches and Palafitos. In the afternoon, visit San Francisco Church in the plaza, the museum, handycraft market and the Museum of Modern Art. Finally, some golf would be great to end this nice day.

Day 6 Quinchao Island.
For this day we propose to visit Dalcahue and its handycraft market and the work in wool. Then cross to Quinchao island and continue a few miles until Chanhuitad detour, where there’s a great view point. Continue from here to Curaco de Velez and watch the black necked swans while trying some oysters. Finally, continue to Achao where the oldest of the world heritage churches of the island is.

Day 7 Rilan Península or Chiloé National Park.
One thing you can do today is horse back riding in San José village, in the Rilán Peninsula during the mornig. Or you can go to Chiloé National Park, passing by Chonchi village, Huillinco and Cucao lakes, to get to the Park. There, take the Tepual path, an easy and nice hike through the forest. For lunch, go to Parador Darwin restaurant or El Fogón de Cucao. Then, go to the beach and take a walk along the large and rough Pacific ocean coast.

Day 8 Castro- Puerto Montt Airport.
On your way back to the airport, after crossing the Chacao channel, take the Chinquihue branch road that goes to Puerto Montt to visit Angelmó. Have lunch there and finally go to the airport.
